Evacuation Training for West County Community Leaders

Starts: Wednesday, August 27, 2025, 6:00 pm
Ends: Wednesday, August 27, 2025, 8:00 pm

If you are like many of us, you recognize that, with predictions for a higher-risk fire season and difficult evacuations being a primary cause of death during large fire events, our communities need better preparation in case of an emergency!

Safer West County invites you to join us and Nancy Brown from Sonoma County Emergency Management to learn how you can help your community be better prepared this fire season.

  • Where: Monte Rio Community Center
  • Who: Anyone involved in helping their community be more resilient. If you are active in a Fire Wise, Fire Safe, CERT, COPE, Meet Your Neighbor, or other resiliency group —that’s you. Please also invite anyone else from your group who is helping move your organization forward.
  • What:
    • Gain tools to hold an evacuation drill in your community
    • Discuss opportunities to create secondary egress routes
    • Discuss best way to ensure alerts get to you and your neighbors

We hope to have at least two representatives from each community in West County. Please forward this to anybody you feel should be at that meeting. RSVPs are requested (but not required) so we can know in advance which communities are represented. Send your RSVP (both attending and declining) to Ellen Barnett (docellenimc@gmail.com) and include the name of your organization and the geographic area you serve.

Safer West County is founded on the premise that together, we can make a difference. Collaboration between all of our West County communities on this and other important topics is the best way we can have the widest and most profound impact.
