Did you know that PGE will pay you to help lower the risk of power outages and also to help you install battery back up systems for your home?  Here are two programs you will want to learn more about.

GridSavy Rewards

GridSavvy Rewards, a program that pays Sonoma Clean Power customers for using less electricity during times of high demand, like hot afternoons when energy use spikes. Participate in two easy ways: enroll a smart thermostat or sign up for energy-saving alerts.

  1. With a smart thermostat, SCP will make small, automatic adjustments to pre-cool your home during peak times—most people don’t notice a difference. You’ll get $100 off a new thermostat, an extra $100 for connecting it to the program, or $200 if you enroll a thermostat you already own, plus $5/month credited to your PG&E bill.
  2. If you don’t have a smart device, you can still join by receiving alerts via text, email, or phone asking you to reduce energy use for a few hours. You’ll earn $25 for signing up, plus $2 for every kilowatt-hour saved during an event.

To join, you must be an SCP customer with a PG&E SmartMeter™ and not currently enrolled in a conflicting program like OhmConnect, PG&E SmartAC, etc. Not all smart thermostats are eligible, so check the website to confirm your device qualifies. Program rules, device eligibility, and incentives may change. Learn more or sign up at https://sonomacleanpower.org/gridsavvy-rewards . Questions? info@sonomacleanpower.org

The Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP)

The Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) is a statewide rebate program offering incentives for installing storage technology, like batteries. These systems can function during a power outage, provide bill savings and benefits to the grid.

To qualify for SGIP incentives in PG&E territory, applicants must be a PG&E electric or gas customer. Incentives vary by customer type and need: general residential customers may receive around $150 per kWh of installed battery capacity. Customers who are low-income, medically vulnerable, or in high fire-threat or outage-prone areas may qualify for Equity Resiliency incentives up to $1,000 per kWh, often covering nearly the entire system cost. For full program information and eligibility criteria, please visit the PG&E website at www.pge.com/sgip.
